Iyengar Yoga in High Park with Ski Fit
New to Ski-Fit in 2015, we have added Iyengar Yoga to some of our Ski Fit sessions. Iyengar Yoga puts emphasis on precision in the asanas (poses), and sequences that promote strength, stamina and flexibility. It was developed in India by B.K.S. Iyengar, who began teaching in 1936 and taught into his 90s. It you haven't practiced Iyengar before, you are in for a treat!
Our Iyengar Yoga instructor is Kasia Harasiewicz, who many of you may also know as one of HPSC’s downhill instructors. Kasia has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for about 10 years, with Yoga Centre Toronto, learning from one of Canada’s most senior instructors. She have volunteered to share her talents with us.
What to wear? Comfortable clothing with some stretch and warm enough to be outside. Bring an extra layer to put on at the end of the session when you are relaxing and listening to the sounds of nature around you.
Where will be do Yoga in the park? If the day is fair, we will be out in the park or in a pre-arranged shelter.
What if it is raining? The Ski Fit program runs rain or shine. We have a shelter arranged in case of inclement weather.
What to bring? Bring a yoga mat & props if you have them. The Ski Fit program also has mats you can use to be off the ground.
We will incorporate Kasia’s yoga sessions into our regular Saturday Ski Fit & Brunch mornings in October. See the events listed below for exact dates.
