    Trip Description:

Located in the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid is just 10 minutes from the Whiteface ski area. Whiteface boasts the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies (3,430 feet). At the top of Whiteface, spare a moment to take in the views of the surrounding Adirondack peaks of New York State.  Spot Lake Champlain and Vermont to the east. Breathe deep. Point your skis downhill. Let them go. This is the face of eastern skiing.  Whiteface features 85 trails, 11 lifts including 1 gondola; 98% of the area is covered by snowmaking.

White Face has 85 trails, and offers 314 ski-able acres including 35 in-bounds, off-piste Expert double-black diamond wilderness terrain skiing on "The Slides" (conditions permitting), and 85.5 acres of tree skiing. Terrain is

    20% Beginner,  43% Intermediate,   37% Advanced.

     X-Country and snowshoeing:

Lake Placid has some of the best X-country skiing and snowshoeing in the east.

You can ski at the Olympic Center Mt. Hoevenberg  with 50 km of classic and skate trails or at nearby Cascade XC ski center with another 20 km of trails. We will also go to the Heart Lake Adirondack Loj (pronounced lodge) on one of our days where you can backcountry ski in the High peaks to Marcy Dam or Avalanche Lake. On the last day, you can ski back to town for the Olympic site along the Jack Rabbit Trail which winds through the backcountry, farms and resorts and you end up on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid.  X-country and snowshoe trail fees are not included in the price of the trip and are approximately $18 to $20 per day. http://www.lakeplacid.com/do/outdoors/winterspring/x-countrytelemark

Skate on the huge Olympic Centre speed skating oval one night – rent or bring your own skates.  For a great adrenalin rush, sign up for a ride on the Olympic Bobsled run! Those HPSC members who have done it said that it’s a memory of a lifetime.

     Resort Accommodation:

The newly renovated Hotel Northwoods boasts the best location in town, with views of Mirror Lake, in the heart of the Olympic Village and on Main Street, which puts everything from shopping, dining and entertainment right outside your door.

     Dining:

Two on site restaurants with daily happy hour specials in the pub from 4-7pm.

There are various restaurants in the area.  Dinner is on your account.

     Departure:

    ·        We leave from Yonge and York Mills pickup point at 9:30am Sunday with a pickup in Scarborough at 10:00am.

    ·        Return from Lake Placid directly at 3:30pm on Thursday March 15, 2018.

    Transportation:

HPSC’s luxury coach will be used for transportation to Lake Placid and return.
