Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Classic & Skate L1-2, the classic beginners' series second session (no new participants allowed) and an Intermediate/Advanced hill clinic (for both skate and classic) will be offered if safe and there is enough interest. Guided snowshoeing will be offered.
Registration opens January 29 at 9pm.
Conditions: given the forecast for the week and weekend, conditions are likely to be "machine groomed granular" - hard packed with loose snow on top. Highlands is one of the best groomed resorts in the business though. For beginners, they do have some flat trails (Teal's Tango and the Green trail) and our instructors are there to help in lessons. There is also guided snowshoeing as an option. Should be a nice weekend to get of the city!
Highlands has a wonderful cafeteria offering hot soup, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, and home-made snacks (you may prefer to bring your own food). They also have one of the better pro shops. Highlands offers terrific rental packages (classic skis, skate skis and snowshoes).

Drop off will start at Hwy 400/7 and then will go straight to Keele station (and then to Davenport and up Yonge). You may want to get off at Keele station and take the subway from there
